When we direct the question, â€Å"what is mind and does it exist?† to ourselves, the answer seems perfectly clear, because to each person there is nothing closer, more intimate, or more certain than his/her own mind, or themselves. A person is absolutely sure of the existence of his own mind, but the question is, what exactly is one’s mind? The first philosopher to take on the theory of mind was a philosopher by the name of Plato. Plato observed the differences between the ideal forms of the content of mind and the every world. Plato defined the philosophy of mind as â€Å"a branch of philosophy that studies the nature of the mind, mental events, mental functions, mental properties, consciousness, and their relationship to the physical body, particularly the brain.† Trying to relate the mind and body together created the mind-body problem which when â€Å"the relationship of the mind to the body, is commonly seen as a key issue concerning the nature of the mind that do not involve its relation to the physical body, such as how consciousness is possible and the nature of particular mental states.† Philosophers such as Plato attempted to resolve this mind-body problem by the use of dualism and monism. I agree with Hochschild’s determination because once women come home from first shift, they go straight into second shift. I believe that they feel because they’re the â€Å"dominant† figure, that the women are supposed to do the majority of the work around the house. Then the men/husbands start to feel a type of way because the women become resentful,. I don’t blame the men for their actions, I blame the fathers and their father’s father for not showing them the correct way to uphold their households. In my eyes women has always been the life support or backbone of any family. So really the women are the â€Å"dominant† figure. It takes a strong individual to work an eight-hour shift, then come home to cook and clean for another eight-hours. To also cater to the children and husbands with all their needs. Women should demand more help from their husbands during the second shift. That extra 24 hours should be split between the two of them. If women stood up for themselves more often, men would start to appreciate them more while still in the relationship instead of when their relationship is over. In conclusion, as time goes on, the younger generations will get it together, I believe. Husbands and wives need to come together and make arrangements to better uphold the home. Although there was an increase in the number of clients and limited opportunities for increased funding, hence, each manager was supposed to put their units case and then the group will work out their priorities. The meeting was deferred twice but now a week before deadline, no one was expecting to leave on time despite of the several problems as Paula was thinking to get some food due to diabetes, Lennie was wondering if he could finish early and collect the kids from childcare. Maris was trying to look for a better place from where she could influence the head and the other key players. The meeting room was filled up with piles of paper supporting the presentations.
